Pupil Premium

This page gives you information on how we have spent the Pupil Premium money which has been allocated to Bramley C of E Infant and Nursery School.  There is also a little more information on what Pupil Premium is and a link to explain a bit more about it should you want to find out more.

BACKGROUND

The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months. In 2012-13 this would have also included pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. From September 2012, we are required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support that they receive.

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.

Who gets the money?

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. New measures will be included in the performance tables that will capture the achievement of those deprived pupils covered by the Pupil Premium. From September 2012, schools are required to publish online information about how they have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.

How much is it worth?

The Pupil Premium currently stands at £1,300 per child.  This year all school received money for children who had been on Free School Meals at any point in the last 6 years.

How do we spend the Pupil Premium funding?

We aim for every single one of our pupil premium funded children to reach at least national expectations in all areas. As a minimum, we want this group to achieve above the level at which all non-disadvantaged pupils nationally achieve. We also want the attendance of our pupil premium funded children to exceed the attendance of all non-disadvantaged pupils nationally.

We have largely targeted our additional pupil premium funding on:

  • Extra staffing

  • Extra intervention

  • Pastoral care

  • Enriching experiences

How do we measure the impact of Pupil Premium funding?

  •  Pupil Progress Meetings with Class Teachers, Senior Leadership Team and SENCO

  • All Pupil Premium children are identified on the class Provision Maps and appropriate interventions are delivered

  • Assistant Head (Assessment Coordinator) tracks progress and attainment of Pupil Premium children

  • Home School Link Worker and SENCO work closely with Pupil Premium children and their families

  • The Senior Leadership Team review the strategies for Pupil Premium children and allocation of funding half termly
